MEET THE TEAM

DAMCOVE FILMS is owned and operated by Anthony Zwartouw & James R. Cowley, who bring a combined 24 years of experience in the film industry to the company. Both of whom are responsible for overseeing all apects of the business, including production, finance, and marketing.


Together, we have built a small, dedicated team of filmmakers, actors, and crew members who are passionate about our company's vision and mission. We foster a collaborative and supportive environment that allows us to bring the best out of our talent and create compelling, original content.

ANTHONY ZWARTOUW

Co-Founder/Director/Writer

Anthony Zwartouw has worked in film for almost 20 years. Notably, he has supervised visual effects for several Star Wars films and worked with acclaimed directors to design breath-taking set pieces for the Harry Potter movies. He wrote and directed two visually stunning and emotionally complex short films, 'Nectar' and 'Patter', which screened at the likes of HOLLYSHORTS and won the SOLARIS AWARD for Best Cinematography. He has a number of projects in development including, 'Insectile' (Horror Feature), 'Husk' (Horror/Thriller Feature), 'The High Seas' (Sci-Fi TV Series), and 'Patter' (Dark Comedy Feature).

JAMES R COWLEY

Co-Founder/Producer/Writer

James R. Cowley is a LEO-nominated actor (Patter, 2022) who has a series of film, TV, and stage credits as a performer, creator, producer, and technician. His sci-fi script "Enigma" was a TV pilot semi-finalist in the Atlanta Film Festival's Screenplay competition and a quarterfinalist in the Screencrafts Sci-Fi/Fantasy Screenwriting competition. His comedy "Pests" was a quarterfinalist in the Filmatics Comedy Screenplay Awards. In 2019, he wrote and directed the award-winning, Oscar-qualifying short film "God of Insects." He has a feature script in the works, and is the lead antagonist in a feature that is currently in post-production.

TOBY GORMAN

Cinematographer

Toby Gorman is an award-winning cinematographer who has worked on major films and TV series for studios like Universal, Warner Brothers, Netflix, and Disney. Born and raised in the UK, Toby graduated with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Fine Art in 2002. He moved to Vancouver in 2005 and has since shot shorts, indie films, and commercials. 
Toby is known for his ability to create unique looks for projects and prioritize storytelling in his work. His latest project is the Netflix adaptation of the popular children's books "Ivy and Bean."

HOLLY PAVLIK

Editor

Holly Pavlik is an Editor experienced in both live-action and animation. Her Editor credits range from Marvel Knights' animated series Ultimate Wolverine VS Hulk to The Seahorse Trainer (live-action) which earned 13 awards and 11 nominations during its festival run. Most notably, it received one of three jury awards at SIFF, qualifying it for Academy Award consideration.



Feature films are a part of Holly's editorial repertoire as well. With experience at visual effects facilities such as Sony Pictures Imageworks and Method Studios, Visual Effects Editor credits include Men in Black: International, Kingsman: the Golden Circle, and Suicide Squad, to name a few.

ALEX SIMON

Director/Writer

Alex is the most recent member of Damcove Films. As a director with a unique vision, they play a key role in bringing diversity and originality to the team.
